"Safe For Life" Women's Self Defence Seminar Christchurch

'Safe For Life' Women's Self Defence Seminar, Christchurch, 25 May 2008

Protect's renowned Rape Prevention/Women's Self Defence seminar is being held for only the second time ever in Christchurch, hosted by ITFNZ.

For women of all ages, sizes and abilities, this seminar addresses physical and sexual aggression, sexual assault and stalking as well as rapes, robberies and random violence. Understanding your attacker, recognising danger signs, behavioral patterns and more are addressed in this seminar. The key to our program is not in eliminating fear but rather in transforming it to a powerful surge that will enable instant action instead of panic.

This seminar answers many commonly asked questions, including: "Is it better to fight back, or not?" "How can I defend myself against a stronger/larger male opponent?" and more.
Upon completion of this course women will have learned life saving safety skills and strategies which will enable them to escape, resist and survive sexual aggression and violent attacks.

WHAT IS COVERED?
Part 1 - Psychology:
Anatomy of a Confrontation The Psychology of an Attacker Avoidance & Prevention Strategies Belief Systems and Personal Boundaries Awareness & Intuition Developing a Survivors Mentality Understanding the Psychology of Fear Verbal Defusing and De-escalating Strategies Drills & Confidence building

Part 2 - Physical:
Natural Stances & Strategy Tactical Postures to Maximize Safety Body Language and Behavioral Patterns Primary & Secondary Targets and their Offensive/Defensive Tools Principals of Physical Retaliation Common Attacks & Defenses (including weapons) Scenarios (Mock Attack Situations)

SO WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER COMING TO THE SEMINAR? - Because unfortunately, violence against women occurs in NZ every 13 minutes. - Because in NZ, a woman is raped or sexually assaulted at least every hour. (Either reported or unreported) - Because 1 out of 3 women will be sexually assaulted at sometime in her life and 1 out of 8 women are before the age of 18. - Because 60% of rapes and most battering and sexual assaults take place in the home. - Because 68% of rape victims know their assailant, 28% of victims are raped by husbands or boyfriends, 35% by acquaintances, and 5% by other relatives. - Because most people view self defence with the classic "it will never happen to me" attitude. Until it happens.
That's why! It is a common and serious issue. Take action and book for this seminar today!
